The Process

From conversation to clarity — in 5 business days.

Step by Step

How we build your market picture.

01
Intake
You tell us what matters.
Every market is different. A short onboarding conversation helps us understand your business context, competitive landscape, and the specific questions you need answered. This shapes everything that follows.
Business name, location, and primary service area
Competitors you already know and track manually
Key concerns: reputation, new entrants, pricing, neighborhood
Strategic context: are you expanding, defending, or evaluating?
02
Signal Gathering
We map every signal source.
Our infrastructure sweeps dozens of data sources relevant to your market — review platforms, business directories, hiring boards, permit databases, local news, web listings, and more. No single source tells the full story. All of them together do.
Google, Yelp, and Facebook business data
Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor hiring activity
Local permit filings and business registrations
Competitor website monitoring and service listings
Demographic and foot traffic data
03
Analysis
Five pillars. One composite score.
Raw signals are scored and synthesized through our Business Condition Index framework. Each of the five pillars — Reputation, Competitive, Neighborhood, Labor, Capital — is weighted and scored from 0–100. The composite score gives you a single, meaningful metric for your market position.
Each pillar scored 0–100 based on weighted signal inputs
Composite BCI score calculated as weighted average
Month-over-month trend line for Market Monitor clients
Competitor benchmarking for all five pillars
04
Editorial Review
Every brief is reviewed.
This is where Markvise differs from a data export. Every brief is reviewed by a human analyst who applies judgment, context, and clarity to the findings before delivery. We flag what matters, explain what it means, and surface the implications specific to your situation.
Analyst review and editorial judgment on all findings
Strategic implications written in plain language
Prioritized list of recommended actions
Risk alerts and opportunity flags highlighted explicitly
05
Delivery
A brief you can read in ten minutes.
Your intelligence brief arrives by email as a clean, well-designed document. There's nothing to install, configure, or log in to. You open it, read it, and have a clear picture of your market — that's the entire experience.

Common Questions

What people ask us.

Do I need to give you access to any of my accounts?+
No. All the intelligence we gather comes from publicly available sources — review platforms, business listings, hiring boards, local news, and web monitoring. We don't require access to any of your internal systems, accounts, or data.
How many competitors will you track?+
We typically cover all relevant businesses within your competitive radius — which we define together during onboarding. For most markets this ranges from 5 to 20 businesses. We don't cap it arbitrarily; we cover what actually matters to your market picture.
What industries do you work with?+
We are deliberately industry-agnostic. We work with any independently operated local service business — dental, veterinary, legal, auto, specialty retail, physical therapy, optometry, and more. If you have local competitors and a local customer base, the framework applies.
What does the report actually look like?+
Your brief is delivered as a clean, well-designed document that reads like an executive briefing — not a data export. It's organized by pillar, includes your BCI score, competitor summaries, trend analysis, and a recommended actions section. Most clients read it in under 15 minutes.
Can I start with a one-time brief and upgrade later?+
Absolutely. Many clients begin with a Decision Brief to evaluate the value, then move to Market Monitor for ongoing intelligence. We'll discuss the right approach for your situation during your initial conversation.
Do you share my information or use it for other clients?+
No. Your market intelligence is entirely confidential and is not shared with any other party. See our Privacy Policy for full details. We take discretion seriously.
